Who is Lyndsie/Thriftly?

I guess by now it’s time to introduce myself! What better time than a Monday in quarantine? I mean I’m not going anywhere! Ha!

Hey! Nice to meet you! I’m Lyndsie Moore, founder and co-owner of Thriftly Finds Company. I am a married mom of two; one boy(6) and one girl (3). I am 33 and live in the house I grew up in.

Here are some quick facts about me! This is kind of like speed dating but for blogging.

  1. I’m named after Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac. (Which turns out to be one of my favorite bands! Stevie is QUEEN!)

  2. Growing up I wanted to live in a big city. Now that I’m a mom I’m really into country living. I’m currently trying to convince my husband into turning our land into a small homestead.

  3. I’m a Capricorn, but know nothing about astrology. The extent of my knowledge is that capricorns are goal oriented, “successful” people.

  4. I have two chronic pain disorders and mental illnesses. I was only recently diagnosed with these this past November. So this new lifestyle is something I’m learning day by day! (Just in case you were wondering I have fibromyalgia, myofascial pain disorder, migraines, anxiety, depression, and mild ocd. *Feel free to ask any questions you like about these diagnoses, and I will answer them to the best of my abilities.)

  5. I am a licensed cosmetologist, and I own and operate a private studio salon inside my home. We converted our spare room into my studio work space. Legacy has been a life long dream of mine! It’s been awesome to achieve this goal! I currently plan to stay behind the chair as long as my chronic pain disorders allow! (*No, my studio is not currently open to the public. I am fully aware that there is a global pandemic, and not only is my town currently under executive orders until further notice, but I am also doing everything in my power to flatten the curve.)

  6. I attended University of Tennessee at Martin, majoring in Family and Consumer Sciences with a concentration in Textiles, Clothing, and Fashion Merchandising.

  7. After college I put myself through beauty school with a small photography business. My images were published on the Pearl website, and others were hung in the UTM Fine Arts Department for a few years.

  8. I’m obsessed with true crime. I am constantly watching documentaries, listening to podcasts, and reading articles online. Some of my favorite podcasts are My Favorite Murder (SSDGM), Small Town Murder, and Serial.

The purpose of my blog is to talk about what it’s like to work from home with kids, and chronic illness, and mental illness. I just want to let people know it’s ok to struggle. It’s ok to feel like being a mom and wife is hard, because it freakin is! No one is out here doing it all! Even when their Facebook posts, instagram posts, and whatever else, looks like they’re killin’ the freakin game, trust me, even they struggle too. The thing is, most people want to hide there struggles, and that it just not my style! I’m open, I’m honest, I’m here telling the good, the bad, and the ugly. And maybe “hot mess” isn’t your style, and that’s fine but it is 100% mine!

Let’s hop on this struggle bus, buckle up, and see the beautiful mess this working, mom, wife life has to offer! Also in my humble opinion it is a lot easier to embrace the mess, because keeping up appearances is hard! And again it is my humble opinion that, ” Ain’t nobody got time for that!”

I’m hoping that this helps someone out there feel like they aren’t alone. I hope that someone feels like they can handle today, and even if they can’t, the world keeps turning and everything will be ok. I want just one mama/wife to take the pressure off themselves, and know that as long as you do everything with love and good intentions, it will all work out exactly like it’s supposed it! You got this mama!

This is the quick and dirty version of getting to know me! Please feel free to message me and ask questions, vent, or just say Hi! I will always be honest and answer any questions to the best of my ability; and I’m the type that if I don’t know the answer to something I will go out of my way to find out a good answer to something. Please, if you feel like you fit in with my hot mess, let me know! I would love to build a community of women to comfort each other, who support each other, and who lift each other up.

Stay home, stay safe, and wash your dang hands!

Lyndsie!
