I’m not sure if everyone knows their body type? Did you know that your body type can change? I didn’t until recently. But motherhood changes all sorts of things, doesn’t it? And obviously motherhood isn’t the only thing that can change your body type.
So what do you do to find out? What’s first? First you will need a sewing tape measure. Using your tape measure, measure around your shoulders, around your bust (or chest), around your true waist (in between your ribs and the tops of your hip bones), around the widest part of your hips. You can certainly measure more but for the jist you only need these.
Once you have recorded all of your measurements, all that is left to do is compare them. So if these measurements are all essentially the same, (within an inch or two) then it means that you have a rectangle/straight/banana body type. (I don’t know why body types are given food names-other than an easy visual)
If your shoulders are the largest number you recorded, your hips are the smallest number, and the numbers go from largest to smallest from head to toe, then you have an inverted triangle/apple body shape.
If your hips and bust are essentially the same measurement and your waist is well-defined and smaller than the other numbers, you have an hourglass body type.
If your hips are the largest number you recorded, and your shoulders and bust are smaller than your hips, then you have a triangle/pear shaped body.
So now you know your body type, now what? Now I recommend googling celebrities with “xyz” body type. This is a really good way to get a firm visualization of what your body type looks like. It’s also easy way to find celebrity style inspiration. You will even be able to find celebrities that have the same height as you. This is the quick and dirty version of how to find your body type. I hope it helps you with your “quarantine” online shopping! Stay home, stay safe, and wash your dang hands!
