Current Summer Faves

So July is here! Summer is in fully swing, and I don’t know about where you live, but here in Tennessee, it is HOT! So the only things getting me through are my favorites! Some of these things I’ve already written about, some are new, and they are in no particular order.

  1. The Libby App – How I’m getting my reading done this summer. I don’t have to re-read my current home library for the millionth time and I can avoid actually having to go to the library. This is very helpful for me not wanting to get the kids out and expose them to even more people than I am comfortable with. Getting to use the Public Library and still social distance is awesome!

  2. I changed from a Happy Planner (which I do actually love, but my kids are too rough on them.) to a Traveler’s notebook. I really love this style. It’s a cool DIY way to mix and match your planners and journals. You can group your like items together. It reminds me of the Trapper Keeper of the 90s. I actually carry two Traveler’s Notebooks.

  3. Twitter- I took the Facebook App of my phone at the beginning of quarantine and replaced it with Twitter. And honestly my mental health is much better. My physical health has had a little bit of a decline so the added positive mental health has been nice. It’s been how I’ve gotten my “national news” and it’s been my little get away. You don’t have to actually know people to stay on top of relevant topics to you and your life; you can strictly follow subjects if you want.

  4. L.A. Colors Jammin’ Berry Mood Tinting Lip Gloss- I have never liked a Dollar Tree whim purchase more. I was buying cheap stuff to entertain the kids, and decided to try this cheap little gloss. I figured if I didn’t like it, I would just use it on my daughter when she asks for “stick” (lipstick). However I ended up liking it. I don’t know if there are other colors/flavors, I didn’t look; I just grabbed the pinky color because I liked it. It goes on clear and turns pink; it’s glossy, conditioning, and not sticky. It doesn’t turn super “Barbie” pink. When I wear it on my lips with no lipstick underneath it, it turns a nice pink that compliments my natural lip color. It also goes great over matte liquid lipstick. It doesn’t travel, or smear the underlying lipstick, and it isn’t pigmented enough to change the lipstick color you chose. I’ve worn it alone, over nude matte lipsticks, and over dark matte liquid lipsticks, and have liked it every time. Also, it’s only $1! So if you’re like me and have an issue with losing things, it’s easily replaceable! Or if your kid(s) are like my daughter and LOVE sneaking into the bathroom or your bag and squeeze all of the products out of tubes, you’re only out a dollar!

  5. Zenni Optical Prescription Sunglasses- I ordered prescription sunglasses for the first time. And I’m not sure I can ever go back! I really love them! I have ordered 3 different pair of prescription glasses from Zenni over the last 7-8 months and still haven’t paid over $100 to the company, TOTAL! Ya’ll before Zenni, my last pair of very outdated prescription glasses were well over $500; and that was over a decade ago! I put off getting new glasses for so long because I was worried about my thick prescription, and the fact that I have different prescriptions in each lens. If you think that your “weird” prescription is what is holding you back from getting cute prescription glasses or sunglasses; DON’T! They are amazing, and so many different styles and price points and all of their lenses are customizable for tinting, blue light blocking, and anti-reflecting. Being able to just grab sunglasses that I can see out of perfectly and look cute, has been the coolest experience!

  6. Orange Dreamcicle- This has been the flavor of summer at our house this year. I don’t remember liking this flavor much as a kid, but my tastes have changed greatly since having kids, and then again after going vegetarian. In fact, I really don’t remember liking orange flavoring much at all until recently. One of the kids picked out orange dreamcicles at the grocery store for snacks, and all 3 of us are currently obsessed with them. The kids always beg me to get them as soon as we run out. And I’ve caught them very cheaply everywhere I’ve looked; so that’s a bonus!

Please check out my current summer faves! I also want to know what your summer faves are! Maybe I need to try them myself. Summer is one of the best times of the year in my opinion; so why not make the best even better!

Stay safe, stay rad, and wash your DANG hands!
