I have been dying to read the book in this month’s review since it first came out! I’m a huge fan of the podcast, My Favorite Murder! It’s actually what began my love of podcasts! I seriously couldn’t live my life without them! I listen to them all the time and MFM is one that I can listen to over and over again and never get tired of. August’s book review is Stay Sexy And Don’t Get Murdered: The Definitive How-To Guide by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark.
Karen had me sobbing in the first chapter! She told a story about her mother and it reminded me so much of my mother. I was not expecting that right off the bat, but I loved it! This book is such a genuinely good for the soul. It is heartfelt and touching and funny. There isn’t really any true crime, outside of relating to the subject in general, how Georgia and Karen bonded over their fascination with it, and how the topic of true crime brought others who have the same fascination to them and in turn creating a community of Murderinos.
The book is a series of stories told by Karen and Georgia that tell their backgrounds, how they met, and what started out as just a podcast has turned their lives completely around. This book is endearing and feels like talking to friends. I cannot recommend it enough! You don’t have to like true crime to like this book. You don’t have to listen to the podcast to like this book, though I highly suggest you do! The podcast My Favorite Murder is seriously life changing; it was for me anyway! This book is a good read for anyone who loves human relationships, overcoming hardships, and a good laugh!
Stay safe, stay rad, and wash your DANG hands!
