I am a mom of two. I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old. They are relatively close in age. Here are my 3 must haves for moms on the go. I’ve had many experiences where I had taken the kids somewhere and wished I had one of these things, or wanted to kick myself for forgetting one of these.
Baby Carrier: I am a die-hard Tula Mom! I got a “prepster” (tulababycarriers.com) with my son. Let me tell you it’s one of the world’s greatest inventions in my opinion. My son was clingy and for a while medically fragile, but then grew and became an early walker who could figure his way out of buckles and straps of strollers and shopping carts. This made wearing him the best option for us. Now my daughter was not the same she has always been independent and content in a stroller or shopping cart. But when she came along I had a busy 3 year old so once again wearing one and putting the other in the stroller or shopping cart was best for us, especially when I was out alone with the kids. I recommend a baby carrier (whatever brand works best for you) to everyone! It frees up your hands. Gives you one less thing to “carry” since you are strapping or tying it to you. And you get the added benefit of extra snuggles and kisses.
Adapter that turns water bottles into sippy cups or that have bottle nipples. This was a game changer when my kids were old enough to drink water. My kids have always loved water. These adapters make things so much less messy; especially when they’ve run through all their extra outfits that you brought. It also helps them not choke as it slows down the rate at which the water can come out of the bottle. Plus it is so easy to just throw in your diaper bag or purse.
Backpack or Backpack style diaper bag. This is something I didn’t realize until I had two. Once I discovered how much easier it is to have your bag on your back, a kid on your front, and free hands to hold another kid’s hand or push the shopping cart or just be hands free in general. It made my life so much easier. This has the same benefits as a baby carrier but with stuff and not a baby!
